Over Puerto del Carmen:
The hotel is only 6 minutes from the airport by car, which was very convenient and is separated from the beach by a well maintained boulevard for walking, jogging and cycling. The beach is predominantly made up of large volcanic rocks found all over the island, quite picturesque but very little sand for sunbathing if you want a change from the pool. Taking a 5 minute walk along the boulevard takes you to a complex of many varied restaurants, bars, hire shops, excursion shops, souvenir shops, the usual beachwear shops, diving schools, well stocked supermarkets and a welcome change from the hotel. In addition, the area is full of well maintained chalet and bungalow accommodation bordered by beautiful palm trees everywhere with a backdrop of volcanic mountains beyond. The roads are in very good condition and not busy, making traveling by hire car pleasurable and stressless.
Over Beatriz Playa & Spa:

The hotel needs some TLC in places but it was easy to overlook that fact when the gardens inside and out were filled with immaculately maintained palms, tropical plants and watered beds. The common areas in and out is filled with attractive Indonesian furniture. The SPA is very attractive with a large centrally heated pool area, with a large sauna and steam room. They also offer various massages and beauty services. Unfortunately, whilst the food was quite varied and plentiful, most of it was ice cold which was very disappointing. The evening entertainment I would score as 5 out of 10…
